When you think of golf club brands that have taken the world by storm in the last few years, PXG is undoubtedly the first name that comes to mind.  When they first started introducing clubs, their marketing strategy was bold to say the least.  ”No One Makes Clubs the Way We Do.  Period” remains the company slogan to this day.

And by all accounts, they’ve lived up to that claim thus far.  Their clubs are played by some of the best players in the world, and are also hugely popular with amateurs of every skill level.

One of their newest introductions is the 0311 Gen 6 driver.  New for 2023, golfers are touting the Gen 6 as one of the longest, most forgiving drivers on the market.

It’s full of cool tech and design features that set it apart from the competition.  So, let’s not waste any more time and dive right in for a closer look.

Who Should Buy the PXG 0311 Gen 6 Driver?

Some drivers are designed for specific types of players and other drivers are better for other types of players.  In other words, drivers with more forgiveness are better for amateurs and higher handicappers, while less forgiving drivers give better golfers the playability and control they need to hit different shots.

Such isn’t necessarily the case with the PXG 0311 Gen 6, however.  It gives golfers of abilities the best of both worlds – maximum forgiveness, playability, and distance.

So, if you’re a fan of PXG, or are even considering updating your current driver, the PXG 031 Gen 6 is worth taking for a test drive, regardless of your playing ability.

Design and Technology

Just like every golf club PXG manufactures, the Gen 6 driver is loaded with the latest and greatest tech and design features.

The Gen 6’s cutting edge weighting system is a good place to start the conversation.  It utilizes a 2.5-gram weight and two 7.5-gram weights in the sole.  These weights are interchangeable and allow golfers to customize their weighting so that they can optimize spin and ball flight.

Additional weights weighing all the way up to 20 grams are available for a small upcharge.

For golfers wanting to hit a fade or straighten out their hook, adding weight in the toe is a good idea.

If you fight the dreaded slice, adding weight in the heel will help you square the clubface up at impact.

For added MOI (forgiveness) and higher launch conditions, adding weight in the back of the club is a recipe for success.

In both robotic and human testing, the face of the Gen 6 driver proved to be one of the hottest in 2023.  It’s made from a Ti412 titanium alloy that’s exceptionally hard.  This material generates unmatched face deflection and spring.  The result is explosive ball speed.

Golfers are also raving about the traditional teardrop shape of the clubhead.  Not only does this design inspire confidence at address, it also helps maximize both distance and forgiveness.  The tall, deep face shape allows mishits to perform exceptionally well, especially those that occur high on the clubface.

How confident you feel with a driver is going to be largely dictated by how it feels and sounds.  The Gen 6 passes both of these tests with flying colors thanks to Precision Weighting Technology that positions mass in the outer extremities of the clubhead.

The Gen 6’s crown is made entirely of lightweight carbon fiber.  This allows mass to be moved further back and lower in the club, which in turn lowers the CG and increases MOI.

Adjustability is the name of the game when it comes to modern driver design.  The hosel adjustment on the Gen 6 allows for loft adjustment of 1.5 degrees either up or down from standard.  The Gen 6’s lie angle can also be flattened by up to three degrees.
