Recently we reviewed the newest line of drivers from PXG. Remember? They’re the brand that claims “No One Makes Golf Clubs Like We Do. Period.” That’s certainly true and our experience with PXG equipment supports that claim.
However, PXG isn’t the only premium golf manufacturer to start making waves in recent years. Honma is relatively new as well, but their clubs are already in the hands of greats like Ernie Els. These clubs are high-end. In fact, their premium irons come with 24k gold inlays.
The company is at it again with a new driver that’s already making the game easier for players looking for more forgiveness and speed.
Key Features
- Flip Slot technology maximizes COR and reduces spin for more ball speed and increased forgiveness.
- Keel design and weight promote a draw ball flight and help maximize MOI.
- Non-rotating hosel keeps the shaft in line through all adjustable settings.
Who Should Buy the Honma T//World GS Driver?
If you appreciate quality, don’t mind paying for it, and want to get the most out of your tee ball, the Honma T//World GS Driver is right up your alley.
Again, the technology, design, and attention to detail that went into this club’s evolution is top tier.
Regardless if you’re a low handicap or just starting out in golf, the T//World driver is sure to give you more confidence and deliver consistent results round after round.
Honma T//World GS Driver Detailed Review
Design and Technology
As we noted earlier, the T//World GS driver is jam-packed with design and technology features proven average Joe’s to help you get the most out of their game.
The most noticeable feature on this club is Flip Shot technology. While it seems like just about every driver on the market has some sort of “slot” tech, this design feature plays a key role in helping golfers with slower swing speeds maximize distance.
Radial face design is pretty cool too. By using an internal rib design, Honma’s able to keep ball speeds high across the entire face. That means more forgiveness, even on mishits.
The Keel sole is a design feature that’s geared to help slicers spend more time in the fairway instead of the right rough. Because of added mass in the heel of the club, golfers are able to square the face at impact. The result is less slice spin and straighter shots.
Moving weight out of the crown is all the rage in modern driver design. In the T//World GS driver, Honma has masterfully done just that. Not only is the crown one of the lightest around, it works in conjunction with the Flip Slot to reduce energy loss at impact. That equates to higher COR, faster ball speeds, and more distance.
Lastly, the non-rotating adjustable hosel keeps the shaft in perfect alignment no matter what loft or lie adjustment you make.
Specs
The T//World GS driver comes in lofts of 9.5, 10.5, and 11.5 degrees. The length is 45.5” and the lie angle is 59.5 degrees. Head size is 460cc.
The stock shaft is the Speedtuned Graphite in either regular or stiff flex. Swing weight is either D1 or D1.5.
Our Experience
I’ll be honest, I haven’t had the chance to hit a whole lot of Honma equipment. However, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the T//World GS driver, and it’s not hard to see what the hype is all about.
Not only does this club look cool, it’s got more tech than Apollo 13. And it’s tech that’s been well thought out, too.
As someone that can struggle at times with consistency from the tee, I was floored by how forgiving this driver is. Whether I caught it on the toe, heel, or out of the center, I didn’t notice much difference in terms of distance.
The Honma T//World GS driver is all about helping golfers that struggle with consistency off the tee, turn the big dog into an offensive weapon. It’s more than clear that the thought, craftsmanship, and engineering that went into this club is second to none.
And when it comes to performance, this driver is a cut above the rest. The results have shown in both testing and through feedback from golfers just like you.
- Technologically advanced head construction maximizes both speed and MOI.
- Keel sole design provides plenty of draw bias for players that fight a slice.
- Ultralight crown works with Flip Shot design to increase COR and distance.
- Price point is higher than other drivers on the market.
- Only one stock shaft option could be a limiting factor.
- Shipping times have been inconsistent.
Conclusion
Even though Honma might not yet be the biggest household name in golf, it’s more than evident they’re well on their way. That’s thanks to the top-shelf equipment they continue to churn out in every product cycle.
The new T//World GS driver is just the latest example.
If you’re looking for longer, straighter drives, and don’t mind spending the money, this driver is sure to deliver.
