When Do You Use A Golf Wedge?

Golf Wedge

When to use a wedge typically comes down to how far the ball must go before it reaches the green or the pin. However, as mid handicap players, your golf wedges must be able to get you on the greens and close to pins to make birdies and save pars to get your handicaps to single figures.

Balls in the fairway, rough, bunkers, and hazards may require golfers to try and get to the green with any of there wedges and they all must be bought with versatility in mind. Best wedges for mid handicappers are designed to help golfers to lower their handicap level.

Finding the Right Wedge for Your Golf Game

Finding the perfect wedge for you is highly subjective. Each wedge should fly a specific distances to give you proper gapping throughout your bag and each wedge should provide you with several shots so you have more chances of hitting greens and attacking pins. Important things to consider when buying best wedges are loft, bounce and sole grinds, and shafts. Bounce is the angle created between the leading edge and the lowest point of the sole of the club.

There are three different options of bounce wedges low bounce wedges, mid bounce and high bounce. Most played wedges are mid bounce wedges and have 7 to 10 degrees angle and are designed to provide great control around the greens. High bounce wedges have above 10 degrees angle. High bounce wedges are best wedges for spin control and more short game control and can be used of the tight lies. Sand wedge with high bounce is excellent for bunker shots and most of the sand wedges have high bounce options. Further on, we provide an analysis of each of these, so it will be easier to choose the best wedges.

Pitching wedge is used like smaller iron for high trajectory balls and yardage of 130 yards.
