It’s tough to argue with the fact the UST ProForce line of shafts continues to get better and better every year. This year’s Prime M40X shaft isn’t just lighter than previous generations. It’s stronger too.
M40X material has proven to be a major breakthrough when it comes to carbon fiber technology. Developed by TORAY industries, M40X pushes the limits in terms of tensile strength.
What does this mean for golfers? More swing speed, increased stability, and longer shots with fairway woods and drivers.

You will get: M40X high tensile material is stronger and lighter than the carbon fiber used in previous models. Plenty of options and customization options make fitting simple and easy. Mid launch design is ideal for most players.

I remember when one of the first UST ProForce shafts came out in the early 2000’s. It was one of the most popular shafts on Tour and you couldn’t miss it because of its purple and yellow design. Since all the cool kids had this shaft, I had to get it too. I put in the head of my Titleist 975-J driver. If you remember both the shaft and driver I’m talking about, you’ve been around the game a while.

Since those first fateful days of the ProForce shaft, UST has continued to churn out one quality generation after another.

The latest is the ProForce Prime M40X fairway wood and driver shaft.

Key Features

  • M40X High Tensile Modulus material is lighter and stronger than carbon fiber used in previous models.
  • Material and design increase lateral stability and speed through impact.
  • Nano technology and nanoalloy used in prepreg resin improve feel and responsiveness.

Who Should Buy the UST Mamiya ProFoce M40X Shaft?

The answer is simple.  The M40X shaft will benefit any golfer looking for consistent performance out of their fairway woods and driver.

The shaft’s proprietary materials and design take what was already a top-of-the-line shaft in the previous generation, and improve upon it significantly.

In both human and laboratory testing, this shaft tested better than the competition in terms of distance, stability, launch, and spin.

Design and Technology

As we’ve touched on already, M40X material has revolutionized carbon fiber technology. Not only is it lighter, it’s stronger too.

In the past, high tensile materials used in golf shafts have felt stiff – almost like swinging a 2×4. Such couldn’t be further from the truth with the M40X. That’s made possible by the incorporation of nano technology and nanoalloy is the prepreg matrix resin. The result is increased feel and shaft sensitivity throughout the swing.

That spells good news for your mighty lashes with woods from the fairway and the tee

Specs

Unlike a lot of fairway wood and driver shafts on the market, UST offers an adequate number of options in the M40X to fit almost any golf swing.

The Prime ProForce M40X comes in the 65 F3, 65 F4, and 75 F5 models. The 65 F3 is regular flex. For stiff flex, try the 65 F4. If you’re a man’s man and need extra stiff, the 75 F5 is for you.

All models are 44” in length and are designed for mid launch. The 65 F3 weighs 69 grams. The 65 F4 is slightly heavier at 72 grams. The 75 F5 is 75 grams.

Our Experience

As you gathered in the opening, I’ve been a fan of UST ProForce shafts for a long time. They’ve always been at the forefront of the technological curve and their performance has never been in question.

Even though it had been a while since I had a ProForce shaft in my driver, I couldn’t wait to give the M40X a try.

When I put it in my driver and got on TrackMan, all of my numbers improved. Swing speed, ball speed, and carry distance all increased. Launch angle was perfect, and my spin rate was as close to optimal as it’s ever been. Safe to say this is the shaft I currently have in my driver, and I don’t plan on switching any time soon.

Conclusion

I don’t think I’ll ever forget that first ProForce shaft I had in that Titleist driver so many years ago. The yellow and purple shaft, contrasted against the sleek black driver head was a sight to see. No mistaking which driver was mine.

Even though that was a long time ago, I’ve continued to be a fan of ProForce shafts. I’ve had several since then and they’ve never let me down.

Based on my own experience, and that of many of my fellow golf addict friends, I can’t recommend the UST
Mamiya ProForce Prime M40X shaft enough.
