The PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 is $37.50 on Amazon, and it’s the cheapest way I know to get three holes on a mat wide enough to actually stand on. For your house, your office, or your kids, it’s a great buy.
Is the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 Putting Mat worth buying?
So here’s the deal with this mat. Most budget putting mats give you a strip of carpet and one hole. The Par 3 gives you a kidney-shaped green that’s almost 3 feet wide, with three holes, two sand traps that catch your misses, and a slight incline at the cups. And it does all of that for $37.50.
That’s why it sells. It’s the number one seller in Amazon’s golf putting mats category right now, and it’s the budget pick that closes out my video on the best putting mats. But there are a couple of things the box doesn’t tell you, so let’s go through what you actually get, where it falls short, and who should buy something else.
Quick Overview
- Size: about 3 feet by 9 feet, kidney-shaped, 3.5 pounds, and made in the USA.
- Targets: three cup cutouts, plus two sand trap cutouts that keep missed putts on the mat.
- Slope: a slight incline at the cups, so you have to hit your putts firm enough to get there.
- Storage: it rolls back up when you’re done, so it doesn’t have to live on your floor.
- Price: $37.50 at Amazon, where it’s ranked number one in golf putting mats.

This is my video where I went through 12 putting mats, and the Par 3 is the budget pick at the very end of it.
The Width Lets You Putt From a Real Stance for $37.50
The Par 3 is almost 3 feet wide. PUTT-A-BOUT lists it at 33.5 inches. That’s enough to stand on the mat in a natural putting stance. On a narrow strip you stand beside the mat instead of on it, and in my video I called that a minor but real compromise in realism. Minor, sure. But on this mat you don’t have to make it.
Now, here’s what’s crazy. Going wider usually costs a lot more. The SKLZ Accelerator Pro costs more than this mat, and it’s a strip 16.25 inches wide.
To get a full 3-foot-wide surface that rolls better, you’re looking at the BirdieBall RollTech 3′ x 10′ Standard putting green at $161.99.
Three Cups and Two Sand Traps Turn Putting Practice Into a Game
Most golfers quit on a putting mat pretty fast because it gets boring. Honestly, who wants to stand there and hit the same straight putt at the same hole all night?
That’s where this thing earns its money. You get three holes instead of one, and because of the kidney shape, each one is a different length and a different angle from where you’re standing. You can play it like a mini course. Your kids can play it. Your buddies at the office can play it. That’s a big reason it works as a gift, too.
And the sand trap cutouts are better than they sound. They catch the putts you miss before they roll across the room. That sounds minor until you’re on your hands and knees fishing a ball out from under the couch.
There’s also that slight incline at the cups. PUTT-A-BOUT says it’s there to build a firmer stroke, so don’t baby your putts. Make them get there.
Here’s a simple drill to keep it fun. Start at the far end and make one putt in each cup, left, middle, then right. Miss one and you start over. It sounds easy. Try it with a buddy watching.
It Rolls Up Light and Moves Around the House With You
At 3.5 pounds, the Par 3 is light enough for anybody to carry from the living room to the office. The putting surface is PET resin, and the rubber backing is non-skid, so it doesn’t go sliding around every time you step on it. In my video I said that matters more than usual on a wide, irregular shape like this one, because it’s more prone to shifting than a narrow strip.
When you’re done, roll it back up and put it away. And it’s made in the USA.
It’s built for inside, though. PUTT-A-BOUT designs its mats for long-term indoor use and storage, so take it out on the patio for an afternoon if you want, then bring it back in.
And at 9 feet, it’s a mat for short putts. If you want to work on 20-foot lag putts, this isn’t your mat. But for the short ones you hate missing on the course, it’s plenty.
The BirdieBall RollTech Is the Step Up, and the SKLZ Is the Ball Return Pick
Here’s how it stacks up against the two mats I’d look at next.

| PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 | BirdieBall RollTech 3′ x 10′ Standard | SKLZ Accelerator Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $37.50 | $161.99 | $54.99 |
| Width | 33.5 in | 3 ft | 16.25 in |
| Targets | 3 cup cutouts | 2 holes with drop-in cups | 1 cup with upslope |
| Surface | PET resin | Patented foam, pick your green speed | Carpet |
| Ball return | No | No | Yes |
If you use the Par 3 and figure out that you love practicing from a real stance and you want a better surface under your feet, the BirdieBall RollTech is where I’d go next. It keeps the 3-foot width, it gives you drop-in cups and flags, and it’s foam, not carpet made on a loom, so the ball rolls off your stroke instead of a weave. It’s the first mat in my putting mat video for a reason.
The SKLZ Accelerator Pro adds a ball return and an upslope at the cup. But it’s a narrow strip with one cup, and in my video I said the ball return works perfectly about a third of the time. I’d only take it if a ball return matters more to you than everything the Par 3 gives you. And if you want to see how every other mat stacks up, my full putting mats list breaks them all down.
What I Don’t Love
The lay-flat time is the big one. When I tested putting mats for my video, this one took about 24 to 48 hours to lay flat after unrolling, longer than most of the other mats on the list. Heavy books along the edges help, but you’re still waiting. So unroll it where it’s going to live, weight the edges, and don’t judge it on day one, because a crease will knock your ball off line and you’ll blame the mat.
The holes are the other thing. In my video I called out that they run about a quarter inch smaller than the regulation 4 1/4 inch hole. So putts that would drop on a real green are probably going to lip out here. Yes, that trains precision. It’s also pretty annoying, and if holing short putts under pressure is your problem, this mat never gives you a real-size hole.
There’s no ball return, so every putt is a walk to the other end. On a 9-foot mat that’s not a big deal, and the sand traps help catch your misses. And there’s no published warranty. At this price that’s not a huge risk, but you should know it going in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you leave the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 outside?
No. PUTT-A-BOUT doesn’t recommend leaving it outdoors, because weather can discolor the mat or make parts of it come apart. Putting on it outside for an afternoon is fine. Just bring it back in when you’re done.
How do you store the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3?
Flip it over so the putting surface faces down, then roll it back up the way it came. PUTT-A-BOUT says the shipping box makes good storage. Don’t fold it, because a fold leaves a crease right where you’re trying to putt.
Is the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 good for kids?
Yes, with an adult around. In my video I called it a multi-hole putting game for your home, your office, or your kids, and that’s exactly what it is. The mat isn’t the problem. The putters and the balls are, so keep it to putting and keep the area clear.
What is the return policy on the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3?
It depends on where you buy it. On Amazon, Amazon’s return policy covers it, and the listing showed a free return option on October 19, 2026. PUTT-A-BOUT’s own policy is 14 days, unused and in the original packaging, with a 25% restocking fee, and personalized mats can’t be returned. If it shows up damaged, contact the seller right away.
Is the PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 the best-selling putting mat on Amazon?
Yes. On October 19, 2026, Amazon ranked it number one in golf putting mats. In my video I said it’s probably the number one selling putting mat on Amazon, and the ranking backs that up.
Final Thoughts: PUTT-A-BOUT Par 3 Putting Mat Review
If you’re buying for a family room, an office, or a kid who’s going to play putting games on it, spend the $37.50 and buy it. But if you already know you’re going to practice every single night, skip this one and go straight to the BirdieBall RollTech, so you only buy a putting mat once.
