Lake Chesdin Golf Club
Lake Chesdin was designed by Barton Tuck and Ault Clark. It opened for play in 1999.
This course is known for having the best greens in Central Virginia. Locals don’t deny that claim.
Lake Chesdin is a solid test of golf from the first tee to the 18th green. Though the fairways give you some room, you don’t want to miss too wide because overhanging trees can make recovering difficult.
The greens are small and slope back to front so anything from above the hole is scary.
A classic parkland design, Lake Chesdin is worth the price of admission.
Dogwood Trace Golf Course
Dogwood Trace is ranked the “#10 Best Public Course in Virginia” according to Golf Advisor.
Formerly the Lee Park Golf Course, this track underwent an extensive renovation and opened under its current name in 2008.
The par threes and fives make this course fun. The par threes are all challenging and demand quality shots. Par is a good score. On the other hand, the par fives present chances for birdies and eagles with two well struck shots. If you aren’t careful though, you can make a big number.
This course is an excellent option if you’re looking for a fun but challenging round.
