TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag Review: Still Worth Buying?

The TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover is a stand bag that's built to live on a cart too. If you walk some rounds and ride others, it's one of the few bags that doesn't make you pick a side, and here's what I'd pay for it.

Is the TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag worth buying?

Most stand bags are carry bags first. Put one on a riding cart and the cart strap wraps right over the pockets, so now you're unstrapping the bag every time you want a ball or a glove. The Crossover fixes that. The cart strap goes through a tunnel in the bag, and the pockets stay open.

That's the whole idea here. It's a stand bag with a 14-way top, removable straps, a cooler pocket, and a cart tunnel. It's not the lightest carry bag TaylorMade makes, and it's not trying to be.

This review covers the 2024 version of the Crossover, the one US retailers still sell. TaylorMade's site now shows a later bag with the same name, so I'll tell you how to tell them apart and what I'd pay for the 2024 one.

Quick Overview

  • Hybrid design: a stand bag with a cart strap pass-through, so it works for carrying, push carts, and riding carts.
  • 14-way top: every club gets its own opening at the top of the bag, and Carl's Golfland lists 2 full-length dividers.
  • Weight: TaylorMade's catalog said 5.0 pounds and PGA TOUR Superstore's 2024 listing said 5.5 when I researched it in September 2026. That's lighter than the other hybrid bags I'd compare it with, but heavier than a true carry bag.
  • Eight pockets: including an insulated cooler pocket, a fleece-lined valuables pocket, and a high-volume apparel pocket.
  • Price: the FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag was $269.00 on Amazon on October 12, 2026, against a $299.99 regular price at Carl's Golfland.

This video isn't a Crossover test, and the Crossover isn't one of the 15. It's my list of the 15 best golf bags of 2026, so it shows you the stand and hybrid bags I'd cross-shop it against.

The Cart Strap Tunnel Keeps All Eight Pockets Open on a Cart

The cart strap pass-through is what makes the Crossover a crossover. It's the reason all eight pockets still work when the bag is strapped to a riding cart.

Here's why it matters. On a normal stand bag, the riding cart's strap goes around the outside of the bag. And where are the pockets? On the outside of the bag. So the strap sits right across them, and you're fighting it every time you need a ball, a tee, or a snack. On the Crossover, the strap runs through the bag itself. It holds the bag to the cart, and the pockets stay free.

Then the straps come off. The double carry straps are removable, so when you're riding, you pull them and the bag sits on the cart like a small cart bag instead of a stand bag with straps flopping around. Next week you're walking, you put them back on, and you're carrying it.

And the stand works for the push cart crowd too. TaylorMade's FlexTech base is built to let the legs deploy when you set the bag down and tuck away when you pick it up, so it sits on a push cart without the legs getting in the way.

Now, what's in those pockets? The one I'd use the most is the insulated cooler pocket, because on a hot day cold drinks are worth more than another ball pocket. Then you've got a fleece-lined valuables pocket for your phone, keys, and wallet, and a high-volume apparel pocket for a rain jacket or the layer you peel off after the front nine. If you want the most storage at this price, the PING Hoofer 14 has 17 pockets. But if eight well-placed pockets and a cooler cover what you actually carry, the Crossover handles it.

So here's how I'd think about it. If you ride every single round, buy a cart bag. If you carry every single round, buy a light stand bag. But if you're doing a little of everything, this is exactly the problem the Crossover was built to solve.

The 14-Way Top Keeps Your Clubs Apart, if Your Grips Fit

The 14-way top gives every club its own slot. That's the other big reason to buy this bag.

With a 4-way or 5-way top, your clubs are sharing space. The shafts bang together, the grips tangle, and you're pulling three clubs up to get the one you want. With 14 openings, each club has a home. You set up your order once, and you know exactly where your 7-iron is every time.

But a 14-way top isn't perfect for everybody. Each opening is smaller, so oversized grips and big putter heads can catch. If you play a jumbo putter grip or a big mallet with a thick grip, check that it slides in and out before you commit. And set up a club order that makes sense to you. A 14-way top only works if you actually use it.

One more thing. Carl's Golfland, an authorized TaylorMade retailer, lists the 2024 Crossover's 14-way top with 2 full-length dividers. So it isn't one divider per club all the way down. Your clubs get their own openings up top, and those 2 dividers split the bag into sections below. If you're still deciding between top styles, my 7-way vs 14-way golf bag breakdown walks through who should pick which.

At About 5 Pounds, It's Light for a Hybrid Bag

When I researched the 2024 Crossover in September 2026, TaylorMade's catalog listed it at 5.0 pounds and PGA TOUR Superstore's 2024 listing said 5.5. That's the number I'd look at before anything else if you plan to walk.

Now, compared with a pure carry bag, that's heavy. TaylorMade's own SuperLite is about 3 pounds. If you carry 18 holes every single time, those extra couple of pounds are on your shoulders the whole way around.

But compare it with the bags it actually competes with and the story flips. These are the hybrid bags I'd cross-shop. Prices checked October 12, 2026.

Bag Price Weight What it does better
TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag (2024) $269.00 on Amazon 5.0 to 5.5 lbs (September 2026 listings) Cooler pocket, removable straps, cart tunnel
Titleist Hybrid 14 $300.00 6.2 lbs Current model, waterproof valuables pocket
PING Hoofer 14 $295.00 5.9 lbs 17 pockets, the most storage here
Callaway Fairway 14 (2026) $299.99 6 lbs 14 full-length dividers, 11 pockets

So going by those listings, the Crossover is the lightest bag in that group. You're getting a 14-way top and a cooler without carrying the heaviest bag in the group.

The self-adjusting straps help too. Set them up right for your height and the load sits evenly on both shoulders. Get them wrong and any bag feels heavy, so take a few minutes in the parking lot the first time you use it.

Which Crossover You're Buying, and What I'd Pay

The bag you'll find at US retailers is the 2024 Crossover. On October 12, 2026, Carl's Golfland showed a $299.99 regular price for it, and Amazon had it in Navy at $269.00 from Rock Bottom Golf.

Here's the catch. TaylorMade's website now shows a later Crossover with the same name, listed at 6.5 pounds. TaylorMade doesn't call it a replacement, but it's a different bag from the 2024 one. So when you shop, look at the listing details. The 2024 bag carries a style number that starts with N266. If the seller can't tell you which year it is, ask before you buy.

Now the price. Paying full price for the older bag doesn't make a lot of sense to me when the Titleist Hybrid 14, the PING Hoofer 14, and the 2026 Callaway Fairway 14 are current models at about the same money. Where the Crossover gets good is when it's discounted.

And on October 12, 2026, it was. At $269.00, the FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag came in under all three of those bags, and that's where it becomes an easy call for a golfer who walks, pushes, and rides. Just check that the listing is the 2024 bag and that the seller still has your color.

And if you'd spend more for the premium version of a hybrid stand bag, look at Vessel. That's the step up in materials and finish, and my Vessel golf bags guide breaks down which one fits how you play. You can also see the whole category in my video where I went through the 15 golf bags I'd buy in 2026.

What I Don't Love

The Crossover isn't waterproof. It's a weather-resistant 600D polyester shell, and that's a different thing.

A little drizzle or a wet morning is fine. A real downpour is a different story. The rain hood covers the clubs, but it doesn't make the zippers and every pocket waterproof, so your apparel pocket isn't a dry bag. If you play in the rain a lot, you either want a truly waterproof bag or you want a rain cover to throw over this one. My golf bag rain cover guide covers the ones worth buying.

The other thing is the rain hood itself. Carl's Golfland lists it as included with the 2024 Crossover, but not every retailer listing for the 2024 bag says it's in the box. Ask before you order, especially if you're buying from a smaller seller or a marketplace.

And the warranty is one year from the original purchase, with proof of purchase. That's standard for TaylorMade bags, but it's not a long-term promise, so keep your receipt.

Who It's For

Buy it if:

  • You carry some rounds, use a push cart for others, and ride when you have to.
  • You want a 14-way top and your grips and putter fit through the openings.
  • You like having a cooler pocket and storage you can reach while the bag's on a cart.
  • You can get the 2024 bag for a real discount below full price.

Skip it if:

  • You carry every round and want the lightest bag you can find.
  • You play in heavy rain a lot and need a fully waterproof bag.
  • You'd be paying full list price when current hybrid bags from Titleist, PING, and Callaway cost about the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover waterproof?

No. The 600D polyester shell is rated weather resistant, which is a smaller promise than waterproof. Light rain and a damp morning are fine. In a downpour the rain hood goes on, and if wet rounds are normal where you play, put a rain cover over the top of it.

How much does the TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover weigh?

When I researched it in September 2026, TaylorMade's catalog listed the 2024 bag at 5.0 pounds and PGA TOUR Superstore's 2024 listing said 5.5. Next to the hybrids in its price class, that makes it the light one: the Titleist Hybrid 14 is 6.2 pounds and the PING Hoofer 14 is 5.9. Next to a true carry bag it's the heavy one, because the TaylorMade SuperLite comes in near 3 pounds.

Is the TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover good for a push cart?

Yes. It's built for it. The cart strap pass-through keeps the pockets open when the bag is strapped down, the carry straps come off, and the FlexTech base is designed to stay out of the way. It works on a push cart and a riding cart.

Does the FlexTech Crossover have full-length dividers?

Yes, two of them. Carl's Golfland lists the 2024 Crossover's 14-way top with 2 full-length dividers, so your clubs aren't separated one by one all the way to the base. Each club still gets an opening of its own up top. If a divider for every club is the thing you want, the 2026 Callaway Fairway 14 lists 14 full-length dividers.

Does the TaylorMade Crossover have a cooler pocket?

Yes. There's an insulated cooler pocket built in, plus a fleece-lined pocket for your valuables and a big one for apparel. That cooler is a real reason to pick this over a basic stand bag.

Final Thoughts: TaylorMade FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag Review

If you walk, push, and ride, the Crossover is one of the few bags that's built for all three. Just don't pay full price for the 2024 one. At the $269.00 I found on October 12, 2026, I'd buy it. At the full $299.99, line it up against the current Titleist, PING, and Callaway hybrid bags and pick the one that fits how you play.
