The Vessel VLS Lux is one of the nicest lightweight stand bags Vessel has ever made. But Vessel doesn't sell it anymore, so here's how I'd buy one used, and the Vessel bag I'd buy new instead.

Is the Vessel VLS Lux Stand Bag worth buying?
Here's what you need to know first. The VLS Lux came out in 2021. It's the upgraded version of the regular VLS Stand bag, with a synthetic leather body, real leather touches, and metal zippers.
And it's gone. Vessel's current stand bag lineup doesn't have a VLS Lux in it anymore. The bag with the closest look and feel you can buy from Vessel today is the Lux Stand, but that's a newer bag, not the same one with a new name.
So this review does two jobs. I'll show you what made the VLS Lux special and how to buy one used without getting burned. Then I'll tell you why the Lux Stand is the bag I'd buy if you want one new.
Quick Overview
- What it is: Vessel's upgraded VLS walking bag, launched in 2021.
- What makes it "Lux": tour-grade synthetic leather, a real leather handle and zipper pulls, metal zippers, and velour lining.
- How it carries: a four-point EQ2 double strap, Vessel's Rotator stand, and carbon fiber legs, with a body around 4.25 to 4.5 pounds.
- Storage: six pockets, each with a job, plus a matching rain hood.
- Status: discontinued. Buy used, or buy Vessel's current Lux Stand new.

This is Vessel's current Lux Stand, the model to buy new now. The VLS Lux isn't sold anymore, and Vessel's old VLS Lux page sends you here. It's a newer bag with the same leather-look finish, 14 pockets, a cart strap pass-through, and a warranty.

This is my VLS Lux video, and it compares the VLS Lux to the regular VLS Stand. It's the bag this review is about, not the Lux Stand.
The Leather Look Is What You're Paying the "Lux" For
The VLS Lux is the regular VLS Stand with a much nicer jacket on it. That's the whole reason it exists.
When I first reviewed it, I put it right next to the regular VLS Stand. The regular VLS is nylon twill, which is kind of like a waterproof jacket. The Lux is tour-grade synthetic leather. It looks like leather and feels like leather, but it's not real leather. It's durable, it's easy to clean, and it's weather resistant.
Then Vessel added the real stuff where your hands go. The handle is genuine leather with hand stitching. Every zipper pull is genuine leather, not rubber or plastic. And the zippers themselves are premium metal. As I said in my video, the Lux cost more than the regular VLS, and that money went into the detailing and the materials.

Inside, the Lux got velour lining in the top too. It's soft, it protects your club shafts, and honestly it just looks cool.
So here's how I think about it. If you only care about function, the regular VLS did the same job for less. If you want your bag to look and feel like a premium piece of gear every time you pick it up, that's what the Lux was built for.
It Carries Like a Walking Bag Should
The VLS Lux is light, it's comfortable on your back, and it sits steady when you set it down.
Start with the weight. The body comes in between 4.25 and 4.5 pounds. That's light for a bag with a synthetic leather shell, and lighter than today's 5.7-pound Lux Stand.
The strap is Vessel's four-point EQ2 double strap. You've got four points of connection, and you can adjust it so the bag sits square on both shoulders. That matters. I know a lot of bags with one strap where your shoulder gets sore from the bag bouncing around all round. There's also a compression-molded neoprene hip pad on the side of the bag that soaks up the rubbing and bouncing when you carry it.
Then there's the stand. The VLS Lux uses Vessel's patented Rotator stand system with carbon fiber legs. When you push the bag down, the foot rotates in place and stays flush with the ground while the legs come out. It's not resting on the side of the bag. The whole foot moves like an ankle, so the bag sits steady instead of tipping.

For a golfer who walks, that's the combo you want. Light body, a strap that spreads the load, and a stand that doesn't flop over.
Six Pockets, and Every One of Them Has a Job
The VLS Lux only has six pockets, but they're smart pockets, built around exactly what you carry when you walk.
Here's how I'd use them:
- Valuables pouch: velour lined and magnetic. This is my favorite. Keys, phone, wallet go in, the magnet closes it, and it's soft enough that nothing gets scratched.
- Front pouch: that's where I keep my golf balls. The front panel is Velcro, so you can pull it off and get it embroidered with a logo or design.
- Magnetic rangefinder pocket: quick in, quick out.
- Cooler-lined bottle sleeve: magnetic, so your drink stays put.
- Side pocket: glove and extra balls.
- Garment pocket: a big one for a layer, and it's where the rain hood lives.
And that rain hood is a nice touch. It's made from the same synthetic leather as the bag, same color, same everything. It's not some cheesy rain hood that looks like it came from a different bag.
There are two little extras I've always liked on Vessel bags, and the Lux has both. A hook-and-loop umbrella holder that tucks your umbrella in between the leg and the pouch so it doesn't bounce around. And a pen holder, so you always have a pencil for the scorecard. I know that sounds nerdy. I still like it.
The VLS Lux Is Gone, So Here's How I'd Buy One Now
You can only buy the VLS Lux used, so either check a used one hard or buy the current Vessel Lux Stand new.
If you've got your heart set on the VLS Lux, here's what I'd check before I paid.
- Confirm it's the VLS Lux. Not the regular VLS, not the newer Lux Stand. Look for the synthetic leather body and the leather zipper pulls.
- Deploy the stand a bunch of times. The Rotator foot should turn and the carbon legs should come out clean every time.
- Run every zipper. All six pockets, end to end.
- Check the strap. Make sure the EQ2 double strap and all four clips are there and adjust properly.
- Look at the synthetic leather. Corners, the bottom, and the areas around the pockets.
- Ask about the rain hood. It's part of what makes this bag, and it's easy to lose.
Prices checked October 12, 2026.
Then compare the price with a new Lux Stand. Vessel had the Lux Stand at $399 on October 12, 2026. If the used VLS Lux isn't a lot cheaper than a new bag with a warranty, buy the new one.
And if you want a new Vessel bag with that same leather-look feel, the Lux Stand is the one I'd buy. It does more than the VLS Lux did.
It's sold direct from Vessel. It's also crosshatch tour-grade synthetic leather with genuine leather zipper pulls and handles. It has the Rotator stand and carbon fiber legs. And you get Vessel's Equilibrium 2.0 strap, in a double or single version.
Here's where it pulls ahead. The Lux Stand has 14 pockets, not six, and one of them is an internal lock pocket. It has a cart strap pass-through with a matching sleeve, so it works on a riding cart too. And the top is a velour-lined four-way with three full-length, fully enclosed dividers.
I've had the Lux Stand out on the course. The garment pocket is full length, and I stuffed a full rainsuit in there, plus a mid layer, and still had space left. It's got dual magnetic cooler-lined bottle sleeves, a one-handed magnetic rangefinder pocket, and a valuables pocket with a key hook.
Now, at 5.7 pounds, it's heavier than the VLS Lux. But after nine holes, I forgot all about the weight. That double strap self-adjusts and spreads the load, and my shoulders felt fine. It also comes with a one-year warranty, which a used VLS Lux won't give you. My full Vessel Lux Stand review and my Lux Stand video go deeper.
If you never ride and want dual hip pads, look at the Vessel Lux Looper.
What I Don't Love
The biggest problem with the VLS Lux today is simple: you can't buy it new.
That means no new-bag warranty for this model. You're buying condition, so every scuff, sticky zipper, or tired strap is on you.
It's weather resistant, but I wouldn't call it waterproof. If you play in a lot of rain, keep that hood on.
And six pockets is enough for a walking loadout, but it's a lot less than the 14 on the current Lux Stand. If you carry a full rainsuit, extra layers, and snacks, the newer bag holds more.

This is Vessel's current Lux Stand, the model to buy new now. The VLS Lux isn't sold anymore, and Vessel's old VLS Lux page sends you here. It's a newer bag with the same leather-look finish, 14 pockets, a cart strap pass-through, and a warranty.
Buy at VesselWho It's For
Buy it if:
- You walk most rounds and want a premium, leather-look bag that's still light.
- You find a clean used VLS Lux, with its rain hood, for well under the price of a new Lux Stand.
- You want six pockets that each have a purpose, not a bag full of empty space.
- You already love Vessel and want the VLS Lux specifically.
Skip it if:
- You want a new bag with a warranty. Buy the Vessel Lux Stand.
- You need a lot of storage for rain gear and layers.
- You ride a cart most of the time. The Lux Stand's cart pass-through is built for that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Vessel VLS Lux discontinued?
Yes. The name is gone from Vessel's catalog, and Vessel's old VLS Lux page now sends you to the Lux Stand. You can still find it used or as old stock, but you can't buy it new from Vessel.
What's the difference between the Vessel VLS Lux and the Lux Stand?
They're different bags. The VLS Lux is the 2021 model with six pockets and a 4.25 to 4.5 pound body. The current Lux Stand has 14 pockets, a 5.7-pound body, an internal lock pocket, and a cart strap pass-through, and Vessel had the Lux Stand at $399 on October 12, 2026. Both use synthetic leather, leather pulls, and the Rotator stand.
How much does the Vessel VLS Lux weigh?
About four and a quarter to four and a half pounds for the body. That is genuinely light for a leather-look bag. The current Lux Stand lists 5.7 pounds for its body before you add the strap and rain hood.
Is the Vessel VLS Lux waterproof?
It's weather resistant, not waterproof. The synthetic leather cleans up easily and handles light weather, and it comes with a matching rain hood. When the forecast turns wet, put the hood on and don't count on the bag keeping everything dry on its own.
Are Vessel golf bags worth the money?
For golfers who want premium materials and a bag that carries well, yes. With the VLS Lux, you're paying for synthetic leather, leather touches, and a comfortable carry. Today, the Vessel Lux Stand delivers that same materials story new, with more pockets and a warranty, and Vessel had the Lux Stand at $399 on October 12, 2026.
Final Thoughts: Vessel VLS Lux Stand Bag Review
The VLS Lux is a beautiful, light walking bag, and if you find a clean used one with its rain hood at the right price, grab it. But if you want a new bag and a warranty, don't chase the old model. Buy the Vessel Lux Stand, because it gives you that same premium feel with more pockets and more flexibility.
