SQAIRZ Men's Speed Bold Golf Shoes Review: Is It Still Worth Buying?

The Speed Bold is Sqairz's waterproof, spiked, square-toe shoe from 2023, and the whole point is a wider, more stable base under your swing. Sqairz doesn't list it anymore, so you're buying leftover stock, and at the right price, it's still a solid shoe.

Is the SQAIRZ Men's Speed Bold Golf Shoes worth buying?

I reviewed the Speed Bold on my channel back in 2023. And that square toe is the first thing everybody notices. It looks different, and yeah, your buddies are going to say something about it on the first tee.

But the square toe isn't a gimmick. It gives your toes room to spread out, and it gives you a wider base to swing from. That's the whole reason to buy it.

Here's the thing, though. Sqairz has moved on to the Speed3 and the Speed2 LT, and the Speed Bold isn't on their site anymore. So in this review, I'll tell you what the Speed Bold does well, what I'd ignore in the marketing, and how I'd buy a pair today without overpaying.

Quick Overview

  • Square toe, wide base: more room for your toes and a wider platform under your swing.
  • Spiked: six replaceable Pivix Softspikes for grip when you swing hard.
  • Waterproof: built as a waterproof shoe with a one-piece upper.
  • Sta-Put laces: two sets came in the box, and they're built to stay tied.
  • No longer in Sqairz's lineup: you're buying remaining stock, so sizes and colors are limited.

This is my 2023 video on the Speed Bold, and it covers the square toe, the Sta-Put laces, and the waterproofing.

The Square Toe Gives You a Wider, More Stable Base

The Speed Bold's square toe is there to give your toes room and your swing a wider base, and stability is the best reason to buy this shoe.

Think about how most golf shoes are built. They come to a point at the front. So your toes get squeezed together, and the front of your foot has less to push against the ground.

The Speed Bold goes the other way. The front of the shoe is square and wide, so your toes can spread out at address. And with more of your foot flat on the ground, you've got a wider platform when you turn and swing through the ball.

So what does that do for you? You feel more planted. You're less likely to lose your balance when you really go after one. And for a lot of golfers, better balance means more solid contact.

Now, I want to be straight with you on distance. Sqairz talks a lot about extra yards, and I talked about it in my video too. But I wouldn't buy any golf shoe expecting it to add a set number of yards to your game. Buy the Speed Bold for the stability. If better balance helps you hit it more solid, great, that's a bonus.

And it's roomy, not sloppy. The toe box is wider than a normal golf shoe, but fit still depends on your foot. If you've got a narrow foot, the extra room up front might feel like too much.

Six Replaceable Spikes and Sta-Put Laces Keep You Locked In

The Speed Bold is a true spiked shoe with six replaceable Pivix Softspikes, and the Sta-Put laces are built to stay tied for the whole round.

This is not a spikeless sneaker. It's a performance spiked shoe, so the grip is there when you swing hard, and when the spikes wear down, you replace them instead of replacing the shoe.

The laces are the other thing I liked. I get tired of having to constantly bend down to adjust and re-tie the laces of my golf shoes. These hold their knot, so you tie them once and forget about them. And Sqairz put two sets of them in the box, so you had a spare set right from the start.

If you're buying leftover stock, check that the laces and spikes are in the box. It's a new pair, so they should be, but it's worth a look before you head to the course.

It's Waterproof, and That Makes It Warm in the Heat

The Speed Bold is built as a waterproof shoe, so it's great on wet mornings and warmer than a mesh shoe on hot afternoons.

I've owned more than a few pairs of supposed waterproof golf shoes over the years, and very few of them actually live up to that claim. The Speed Bold was built guaranteed waterproof with a one-piece upper, and that's exactly what you want for early tee times with heavy dew or a round after it rained all night.

But there's a trade. A shoe that keeps water out also keeps a lot of heat in. So on a hot summer afternoon, the Speed Bold is going to feel warmer and less breathable than a mesh shoe.

So if you play in a hot, dry climate most of the year, this isn't the shoe I'd pick. Look at a lighter mesh shoe like the Sqairz Speed Mesh instead. If you play a lot of wet mornings, the Speed Bold makes a lot more sense.

One more thing on the waterproof guarantee. Sqairz backed its Speed shoes with a two-year waterproof promise when the Bold came out. But this is an older model now, so don't assume that promise carries over to a pair you buy today. Sqairz's current warranty covers defects for 90 days. Check the seller's return policy before you buy.

Here's How I'd Buy the Speed Bold Today

The smart way to buy the Speed Bold is to find your exact size first, pay well under its list price, and compare it against Sqairz's current shoes before you check out.

Since Sqairz doesn't list it anymore, you're shopping whatever stock is left. So here's exactly how I'd do it:

  1. Find your exact size first. Don't settle for a half size off just because it's what's left.
  2. Pay remaining-stock money. On October 12, 2026, Worldwide Golf Shops had the SQAIRZ Speed Bold at $119.97 new, well under its list price, and that's a good deal. Much above that, and I'd buy a current Sqairz instead.
  3. Buy new, not used, if you can. Used pairs are cheaper, but spikes, insoles, and waterproofing all wear.
  4. Check the return policy before you buy, because warranty and return terms on older stock depend on the seller.

And if your size is gone, don't chase it. On October 12, 2026, Sqairz's current lineup had the Sqairz Speed3 at $189.00 and the lighter, cheaper Speed2 LT. Neither one is officially the Speed Bold's replacement, but they're the current square-toe shoes you can buy new. My Sqairz Speed3 review and my Sqairz Speed2 LT review go through both.

What I Don't Love

The biggest problem with the Speed Bold is availability: it's off Sqairz's site, and you're stuck with whatever sizes and colors are left.

With a current shoe, you order your size, and if it's wrong, you swap it. With the Speed Bold, you might find your size in one color at one store, and that's it. And the warranty and return terms are murkier than they'd be on a current Sqairz.

The heat is my other gripe. It's a waterproof shoe, and it runs warm on hot days. If most of your golf is in the summer heat, you'll be happier in a mesh shoe.

Who It's For

The Sqairz Speed Bold is for golfers who want a stable, waterproof, spiked shoe with a roomy toe at a discount, and it's the wrong buy for hot-weather golfers or anyone shopping for distance.

Buy it if:

  • You feel cramped or unstable in narrow, pointed golf shoes.
  • You play a lot of wet mornings and want a waterproof spiked shoe.
  • You can find your exact size well under its list price.
  • You want replaceable spikes and laces that stay tied.

Skip it if:

  • You play mostly in hot, dry weather. Look at a mesh shoe.
  • You're buying a shoe to add yards.
  • Your size is gone. Look at the Speed3 or Speed2 LT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sqairz Speed Bold discontinued?

Yes, for practical purposes. The Speed Bold isn't in Sqairz's current US lineup, and its old product page on Sqairz's site is gone. What's left is remaining stock at retailers, so sizes and colors are limited.

Do Sqairz Speed Bold shoes add distance?

Don't buy them for that. Sqairz promotes distance gains, but any extra yards depend on the golfer. The real benefit is stability: a wider base that helps you stay balanced through the swing, and for some golfers, that leads to more solid contact.

Are Sqairz Speed Bold shoes waterproof?

Yes. The Speed Bold was built as a guaranteed waterproof shoe with a one-piece upper. The Speed line carried a two-year waterproof guarantee back then, but on an older pair bought today, check the seller's return and warranty terms first.

How many spikes does the Sqairz Speed Bold have?

Six. The Speed Bold uses six replaceable Pivix Softspikes, so you can swap them out when they wear down instead of replacing the whole shoe.

What replaced the Sqairz Speed Bold?

Sqairz hasn't named an official replacement. On October 12, 2026, the current Sqairz lineup included the Sqairz Speed3 at $189.00 and the lighter Sqairz Speed2 LT at $139.00. Both keep the square-toe idea, but they're different shoes, so don't assume the Speed Bold's specs carry over.

Final Thoughts: SQAIRZ Men's Speed Bold Golf Shoes Review

If your size is out there in a new pair at a remaining-stock price and most of your rounds start on wet grass, the Speed Bold is a stable, waterproof spiked shoe that's well worth it, and I'd grab it. If your size is gone or the price creeps toward its list price, skip the hunt and buy a current Speed3 or Speed2 LT.
