TaylorMade M6 Driver Detailed Review

Design and Technology

Engineers repositioned 54% more carbon in the M6 than in the M4 to produce the Inertia Generator. This redistribution of weight makes the M6 more forgiving and more aerodynamic than any other driver TaylorMade has produced. TaylorMade claims that everyone gets faster due to its proprietary process of optimizing every driver using its tuning resin injection.

The M6 driver is perfect for players looking for great ball speeds and more distance in a simplified package. The M6 is forgiving thanks to Hammerhead 2.0 and ideal for players that strike the golf ball across the face due to the higher lofted toe and lower lofted heel of the Twist Face design. The large foot print and sharp silver to black contrast make the M6 easy to align and is confidence inspiring for golfers of any ability.

During my testing with TaylorMade for the M6 driver I was immediately surprised by how forgiving this driver is. Miss-strikes in the toe and heel seemed to retain ball speed and managed to stay closer to the fairway. The M6 is unique in its ability to be forgiving in a relatively low-spin model. I believe that the M6 will be TaylorMade’s best-selling product due to its diverse performance. The M6 is long no matter what speed you swing at and it is much more stable than the M5.

I quickly felt confident and relaxed with the M6 driver. I was set to a usual position of 10.5-degrees dialed down to 9.25 with a slightly open club face. My miss is to the left and using the loft sleeve to manipulate my shot shape is invaluable for my confidence in my swing. Tensei CK Pro Orange in the 70TX model was my shaft of choice with my typical Tour Velvet grip. The M6 is a driver that I instantly loved and much preferred over the less forgiving M5 model.

Callaway Epic Flash Driver

The Epic Flash Driver is the flagship product for Callaway Golf. The Epic Flash combines Jailbreak and a sliding weight to give players more distance and more adjustability than ever before. Artificial Intelligence has been used to develop a new face that features advanced ripple patterns to create more forgiveness across the entire club face. Traditional look, sound, and feel is present in the most technologically advanced driver from Callaway.

  • The Callaway Epic Flash Driver employs a new technology called Flash Face to help golfers get more ball speed for more distance.
  • Flash Face's sophisticated architecture was created by Artificial Intelligence - the first known instance of using A.I.in the golf industry - to create a radically different face.
  • Jailbreak Technology features two internal bars that stiffen and stabilize the crown and sole, placing more impact load on the face to promote faster ball speed.

TaylorMade M5

The TaylorMade M5 Driver iis the lower spinning, more adjustable compliment to the M6. M5 gives players more options to dial in their ball flights and shot shape preferences due to the Inverted T-track. Moveable weights are perfect for elite players and anyone that struggles with violent curving tee shots. The introduction of the injectable speed system ensures that every M5 driver produced is at the absolute maximum in speed and performance. Better players and players looing to dial in their exact club specifications will love the array of the new M5 driver.

  • SPEED INJECTED: Every head is individually speed tested and injected with tuning resin to optimize COR across the entire face; The Speed Injection process is designed to maximize ball speed and distance in the M6 driver
  • TWIST FACE: Revolutionary new face curvature with a corrective face angle on off center hits, engineered to reduce side spin and deliver straighter shots
  • INVERSE T-TRACK: The new, more efficient Inverse T-Track enables two 10g weights to be maneuvered for optimal spin and trajectory

TaylorMade M4

The TaylorMade M4 Driver is the prior generation of the TaylorMade M6. M4 is excellent in its delivery of distance and forgiveness in a simple profile. Players looking for straight-distance will get it thanks to Twist Face and the Hammerhead slot. Geocoustic technology is used to make M4 sound and feel great and the carbon crown delivers enhanced aerodynamics and a stunning look behind the ball. Available now at a reduced price, the M4 is the perfect option for budget-conscious golfers looking to pick up an outstanding club at a great price.

  • New face curvature w/corrective face angle on off-center hits, to reduce side spin & deliver straighter shots. Provides more loft in high-toe & less loft in low-heel for more consistent spin
  • Hammerhead slot: the reinforced outer portions of the slot allow for a lighter, more flexible face, resulting in a larger sweet spot
  • The center portion of the slot increases ball speed low on the face and drops unwanted spin for more distance

Should You Buy the M6 Driver

Players in the market for a new driver should consider the M6 if they prefer the look of a carbon crown and feel they can use the accuracy benefits of a more forgiving profile. The M6 gives players industry-leading speed due to the injection of tuning resin and Hammerhead 2.0 technology. Twist Face and the Inertia Generator combine to deliver maximum forgiveness and accuracy from heel, toe, and bottom impact locations. The M6 driver is built for golfers who frequently strike the golf ball across the face but want the ultimate in ball speed and distance.
