Cleveland Huntington Beach Putter Detailed Review
Design and Technology
When Cleveland released the Huntington Beach series of putters, their goal was to create a line of putters that had all the materials, design, and technology features of their higher-priced competitors but with a wider array of options at a significantly lower price. Mission accomplished, as Cleveland has yet again proven why they are an industry leader in short game club manufacturing.
The most notable feature of the Huntington Beach line is the nine different head designs that allow players plenty of options when choosing a putter that is best for them. The 1, 3, 4, and 8 are classic blade designs while the 2, 6, 6C, 10, and 11 are classic mallet shapes with each model having its own unique characteristics. All of the heads are made of 304 stainless steel that is 54% softer than the 17-4 stainless steel used in previous Cleveland putters. The result is a considerably softer feel and more muted sound at impact for better feedback.

The rough diamond-shape surface on the face is 0.012” as opposed to the 0.003” milling depth in older Cleveland putters. The center of gravity has also been lowered in the face compared to other similar putters. The result of these two features working together is increased friction at impact allowing the ball to come off the face rolling more quickly and with a softer feel for enhanced responsiveness at impact.
The latest three Huntington Beach putters introduced in 2018 feature Speed Optimization Face Technology. Greater weight distribution and the unique diamond-shape milling pattern increase MOI and forgiveness across the entire face affording more consistent distance control, even on mishits.
