Matt Kuchar was the first to make this switch, and Bryson DeChambeau wasn’t far behind.

With this putting style, golfers anchor the putter shaft against their arm and make a stroke using their chest and shoulders.

The folks at BioMech noticed the armlock method’s popularity and became one of the first manufacturers to design a putter specifically designed for this stroke.

Key Features

Design and Technology

Conventional is probably the last word that comes to mind when you look at the BioMech Acculock Putter.  Everything about it is unconventional.

To start, the head is significantly bigger than even the large mallet heads that dominate the market.  While this feature might be off-putting at first glance, it’s easy to get used to.

The advantage of such a large clubhead is increased MOI and a bigger sweet spot.  That means more forgiveness.

The clubhead itself is made of aerospace-grade aluminum.  Again, this deviates from the norm.  However, extensive testing has found that the material is lightweight, and provides golfers the sound and feel they desire.

The shaft sits centered in the back edge of the putter.  Coupled with a distinct white site line, aiming this putter is easy.  This is all part of the BioMech Optical Alignment System that allows golfers to putt consistently with their dominant eye over the golf ball at address.

Just to emphasize the point that this putter is a little outside the box, it’s available in colors of blue, pink, and burgundy.

Our Experience

When it comes to putting, I tend to be pretty traditional.  It’s not that I can’t get behind the unconventional methods, just that I’m more comfortable with what I’ve always known.

But a while back I was in a real slump with the putter and decided to give the armlock method a try with the Acculock Putter from BioMech.

The first time I put this putter in my hands, I was a little uncomfortable.  But the more time I spent with it, the easier to use it became.  In fact, it was so easy to line up, my confidence immediately went through the roof.

Though the sound and feel of this putter aren’t what I was used to either, I found them both solid and responsive.

Overall, this putter’s features make sense and unquestionably simplify the putting stroke.

Conclusion

The armlock putting method continues to grow in popularity.  We shouldn’t be surprised as the science behind it simplifies the putting stroke.  As a result, golfers of all abilities are able to repeat their motion and putt more consistently.

If you aren’t afraid of thinking a little bit outside the box and want to make more putts, give the armlock method and Acculock Putter a try.  My guess is that you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you do.
